Managing Change: Essential in Leading to Up-gradation of Organizations

Abstract: In all types of organizations, all the members, belonging to all job positions in the hierarchy are required to bring about changes in various factors. The changes are essential, otherwise the job duties tend to become monotonous. The individuals in leadership positions are vested with the authority and responsibility of making wise and productive decisions in terms of various factors. Furthermore, all the members need to work in collaboration and integration with each other in managing changes. The changes need to be made taking into account the organizational goals. These need to be facilitating in the achievement of organizational goals and leading to up-gradation of overall structure of the organizations. All the members are required to be well-informed in terms of their job duties and methodologies that are necessary to carry these out in a well-ordered and satisfactory manner. Furthermore, one needs to inculcate the traits of morality, ethics, diligence and conscientiousness. These are necessary in bringing about changes in various factors, doing well in one’s job duties, achieving organizational goals and leading to up-gradation of overall structure of the organizations. Therefore, it is understood in all types of organizations that managing change is essential in leading to up-gradation of organizations. The main concepts that are taken into account in this research paper are, understanding the meaning and significance of managing change, areas to be taken into account in managing change in a satisfactory manner and measures to be put into operation in managing change in an adequate manner.

The Evolution of Education System in India

Abstract: The main objective of this research paper is to acquire an efficient understanding of the evolution of education system in India. Education is the instrument, which is the key in promoting well-being and goodwill of individuals, communities and nation. Since ancient times within the country, the individuals have recognized the meaning and significance of education. The Brahmin and Kshatriya families are being provided with education. In this manner, development of competencies and abilities takes place among them. The education system was first developed in the cities of Bombay, Kolkata and Madras with the advent of British rule in India. In order to excel in one’s lives, it is of utmost significance for all individuals to acknowledge the meaning and significance of education. Furthermore, there is a need to formulate policies and schemes, which would be facilitating in bringing about developments in the overall system of education. The Kothari Commission and The National Policy on Education are schemes, which aim to bring about improvements in overall system of education. Furthermore, Operation Blackboard, Restructuring and Reorganization of Teacher Education, MLL, Mid-Day Meal Scheme, DPEP and Education for All are the schemes, which contributed in the evolution of education. The profile of the Indian education system includes, formal education, primary and middle education, secondary education, higher education, technical and vocational education, open and distance learning, adult education, training programs, informal education and non-formal education. Therefore, it is understood on a comprehensive basis that developments taking place in the overall system of education is assisting in leading to progression of individuals, communities and nation.

Abstract: This paper examines the diverse relationships of different publics within Anand Nagar slum with these news programs and political discourses, detailing how many men and women in the slum watched and engaged with what they see as political communication on television. Following the qualitative methodological approaches specifically ethnography conducted in slums of Bhopal, the paper detailed how youth watch television news for political information and does these watching has little correlation to their electoral choices and voting decisions in their everyday lives.

Formalizing Creativity: Academic Writing in Early College Years

Abstract: The transition from high school to college can easily be deemed to be one of the biggest changes in a student’s life. However, due to its dramatic nature, one may fail to fully consider the intricacies of this change. In college, the criteria for evaluating students’ academic standing shifts from simple examinations to a blend of assignments and exams. Multiple assignments need the students to write authentic pieces of academic writing. This perspective article aims at providing a conceptual description, and analysis, of academic writing during early college years. We evaluate the structure and components of various stages in academic writing. The outcomes of the paper provide a thorough analysis of dichotomies that exist in students’ experiences using two models of literacy: The Autonomous Model, and The Ideological Model. To further reemphasize how crucial early college years are, a contrast has been made between what academic writing is and should be in high school; and what academic writing is in college. This contrast is exemplified using the Central Board of Secondary Education, which is India’s primary board for education. This article also explores the academic and cognitive dimensions of academic writing. Taking the current status quo and the recent transformation of the academic world into consideration, the outcome also highlights the challenges and limitations posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and provides recommendations to tackle the same. The article also introduces and appraises the idea of students in today’s world, who majorly identify as “digital natives.” It subsequently analyses how this identity impacts their academic life in a pandemic-struck online system of education. A brief yet elaborate account of the Indian context, and its structural realities were the key focus while making inferences. Finally, the article presents limitations and challenges faced by students in three ways, reiterating the contrast between high school and college in terms of academic instruction, briefly analyzing the social environment in college along with its possible implications, and commenting upon the ambiguity in academic expectations.

A Study on OTT Content Versus Theatrical Released Cinema Preferences Among the Urban Population of Guwahati

Abstract: In the year 2020 when the world was going through a period of lockdown due to Covid_19 and the shooting came to a halt, cinema halls were shut and film releases were suspended. It was then internet managed to create a new viewing experience where the mode of entertainment drastically shifted to the small screens known as Over the top streaming platforms where the user could be customized according to their taste and preferences. Also, this changed the way we will be viewing and this has created greatest fear for cinema hall owners. OTT is widely popular for its, fresh, latest content, good storyline, plot and focuses on the quality of work rather than depending on commercial success. The objective of this research is to find out whether over-the-top channels had created an impact on the urban population of Guwahati, Assam in comparison to other film viewing channels and theatres. This study tries to investigate if OTT has taken over the films on the basis of cost, content, characterization, and accessibility catered to its respective audience in the city. Many viewers are against the idea of censorship in Ott which is considered to be one of the major reasons for its increased viewership. In this research, the researcher tries to find out whether the preferences of the viewers are diverting towards OTT content or it remains with commercial cinema released in theatres.

Community Documentary: Move Towards Digital Inclusion

Abstract: This research paper looks at the dynamics of digital divide and the potential of community documentaries to challenge them. Researcher critically reviewed the literatures on community media initiatives and result of such media exposures. This research work considers the Community video works as Cinẻma Pur and put forward some theoretical understanding to define the term documentary from the basic idea of visual documentation, with an attempt to establish any kind of community visual documentation as documentary work and thus provides a theoretical reference to such documentation as Community Documentary, nullifying the much used alternative expression of Community Video. Influences of such Community Documentaries and their making process on the women are further elaborated from gender perspective. Researcher looks at the potential of these documentary making procedures taken up for, of and by the community women, with and without technical supports from outside agencies, as a step forward to bridge the digital divide. Ensuring the access and skill to use the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), making process of community documentaries enabled the community women to participate and get benefited from growing knowledge and information society. All the three aspects of digital inequalities, better known as digital divides: 1.Economic divide or infrastructural inequality 2.Usability divide or inequality in digital literacy 3.Empowerment divide or participation inequality, are stressed while examining whether community documentaries can serve as a type of digital inclusion. Theoretical base of the model is being scrutinized by three case studies taken up in the Indian state of Gujrat and Andhra Pradesh: 1.’Gender Sensitive Governance through ICT’ by Mahila Swaraj Manch, Shihore-a project base for ‘Making Women’s Voice and Votes Count’ –a multi-site project funded by UN Women, 2. ‘Ek Poltun Bheek Nu’ by the community women of Narmadapura, Baroda and 3.‘When Women Unites’ by the community women of Nellore.

Usage of Facebook by Student Leaders in Creating Awareness Regarding Covid-19 in Guwahati

Abstract: Pandemic like COVID-19 has triggered disruptions in personal and collective lives globally. It is not only a pandemic, but also an Infodemic of misinformation about the virus which raises demand for reliable and trustworthy information. With the advent of social media creation and consumption of news have been changing among the young generation. Student leaders have taken on additional work and assumed new responsibilities by volunteering in their communities and creating awareness among the public about the accuracy of information and measures to be taken against the deadly virus. This study explores the use of Facebook handles by the student leaders of two universities in Guwahati in creating awareness about the health-related messages regarding Covid-19 and its vaccination. The researcher will use critical discourse analysis to evaluate the use of social networking sites by the students’ leaders. To understand the usage by the leaders, Facebook pages of the leaders would be followed and studied backed with unstructured interviews with the leaders to understand the purpose of and pattern of using the social media handles.
