Abstract: The main objective of this research paper is to acquire an efficient understanding of social interaction and managing relationships. From the stage of early childhood, throughout an individual’s life, they need to understand that to lead to progression, one must promote social interaction and manage relationships effectively. These are necessary in personal and professional lives. Within and outside the homes, some job duties are carried out on an individual basis. In contrast, others are carried out through working in collaboration and integration with others. One will be able to obtain help and support from others only when cordiality and pleasantness are reinforced in terms and relationships. Hence, throughout the lives of individuals, they are required to augment their information in ways that are necessary for promoting social interaction and managing relationships. All types of measures must be implemented in a well-ordered and satisfactory manner. As a consequence, one will render a significant contribution in promoting good health and well-being, physically and psychologically. Furthermore, one will incur feelings of pleasure and contentment. Therefore, it is well understood that social interaction and managing relationships are indispensable in leading to the upgradation of one’s living standards. The primary concepts examined in this research paper are the importance of social interaction and relationship management, as well as measures to be implemented for promoting social interaction and effective relationship management. Additionally, the advantages of encouraging social interaction and managing relationships are explored.

Abstract: The main objective of this research paper is to acquire an efficient understanding of the meaning and significance of regional development. Within rural communities, several factors need to be developed to facilitate the progression of rural individuals and their overall communities. These include a system of education, employment opportunities, medical and healthcare facilities, infrastructure, amenities, and various types of facilities. Individuals in leadership positions are required to formulate different types of programs, which are necessary for promoting the enhancement of all these factors. One needs to acquire a thorough understanding of the inconsistencies and implement improvements. The generation of awareness in terms of various factors and the management of financial, technical, human, material, and information resources are regarded as of utmost significance. Individuals belonging to rural communities are heavily dependent on natural environmental conditions. Hence, they need to ensure that they effectively utilise resources and prevent wastage. Emphasising regional development facilitates the upgradation of rural individuals and communities. As a consequence, individuals will have access to all the facilities and will contribute efficiently to enhancing their overall quality of life. Therefore, it is well understood that the regional development of rural communities is vital in leading to upgradation. The main concepts considered in this research paper are understanding the meaning and significance of regional development, as well as the measures to be implemented for promoting regional development.

User Perspectives on Over-The-Top (OTT) Platforms in Kashmir: A Quantitative Analysis

Abstract: Over-the-Top (OTT) platforms are gaining popularity in Kashmir, with Netflix emerging as the most preferred platform. The majority of respondents spend 1-2 hours daily on OTT platforms, with movies being the most preferred content type. The primary motivation for watching content on OTT platforms is their simplicity of use, with Urdu being the most chosen language. The study also found that OTT applications are altering television and movie-watching habits in Kashmir, and that a substantial proportion of users believe these platforms are transforming the Indian television and film industry. Respondents are optimistic about the future of OTT platforms in Kashmir, citing factors such as smartphone penetration, digital quality, cost-effectiveness, and international collaboration. This research provides valuable insights for industry stakeholders, content creators, and policymakers seeking to understand user preferences and capitalize on the growing digital entertainment market in Kashmir. The study offers important implications for the future development of OTT platforms and media consumption patterns in the region.

Abstract: This abstract provides an overview of a comprehensive strategy to promote women’s health in the capital of Jharkhand, Ranchi, through mass media. Women’s health in this region faces unique challenges, including issues related to maternal health, reproductive health, nutrition, and mental health. This abstract outline a strategic plan to address these challenges effectively. The strategy begins with identifying key health issues and collaborating with local healthcare providers, NGOs, and government agencies to gather accurate information and statistics. Educational content is then developed, encompassing articles, videos, infographics, and podcasts, which are translated into local languages for accessibility. Various media channels are leveraged, including television, radio, print media, and social media, to disseminate this content. Special attention is given to community outreach, with the organization of health camps and workshops to engage directly with the local population. The strategy aims to promote healthy behaviors, challenge cultural stigmas, and advocate for policy changes that enhance women’s healthcare services, Television/print media highlighting the issues of women health and seafty. Collaboration with local influencers and empowering women with knowledge about their rights and healthcare options are additional components of the plan. Continuous monitoring and evaluation ensure the impact of mass media campaigns is measured, and the sustainability of these initiatives is addressed through a long-term strategy. By adopting this comprehensive approach, mass media can become a powerful tool in promoting women’s health in Ranchi, Jharkhand, leading to improved healthcare awareness, behavior, and outcomes among women in the region.

Conceptual Blending in Indian Political Cartoon Discourse

Abstract: Conceptual blending theory has been used by scholars to study various genres of texts. Scholars studying cartoons, in particular, have used it to examine how metaphors and metaphorical blending are employed in cartoons to construct meaningful texts. This paper discusses selected Indian political cartoons through the Lens of Fauconnier and Turner’s Conceptual Blending Theory. The themes of the cartoons chosen for the study focused on various social issues that were part of the media discourse in contemporary times. The study was conducted to understand how cartoons depicting social issues used metaphoric blending to visualise an issue. The paper found that the graphic form of the political cartoon mediates the understanding of a communicative event through the use of cognitive devices, such as metaphorical blends. It was found that novel metaphoric blends were created in a cartoon text depending on the nature of the issue, and that these metaphorical blends are regulated by context and background knowledge regarding the event being represented. It was also observed that the novelty of metaphoric blends in Indian editorial cartoons depended on the social, political and cultural context. Meanwhile, the metaphoric blends also incorporate everyday objects and scenarios that structure the meaning potential of the political cartoon. Another relevant finding is that specific cartoon texts contained more than one conceptual blend, forming a network of blends that worked in conjunction with each other. Furthermore, it was observed how conceptual blends in cartoons aided in anchoring the meaning of the cartoon and prevented polysemic confusion. The research findings demonstrate that cognitive devices are prevalent in cartoon texts and can significantly influence their interpretation and use.

The Influence of Lacanian Jouissance on K. G. George Movies

Abstract: This paper explores the influence of Lacanian jouissance on the films of K. G. George, a pivotal figure in shaping the narrative and style of Malayalam cinema between 1974 and 1998, who passed away on September 24, 2023. George’s career as a filmmaker paralleled significant changes in society and politics, and his films delved into the intricacies of the human mind in the face of shifting social contexts. The examination of Lacanian jouissance in K. G. George’s films shed light on the complex interactions that shape the psychological landscapes of the characters via lack, desire, and social constraints. This is made possible through the qualitative content analysis of a purposively sampled set of K. G. George movies that include Yavanika (1982), Adaminte Variyellu (1983), Irakal (1985), Mattoral (1988), and Ee Kanni Koodi (1990). These films serve as representations that allow spectators to confront their unconscious desires and the constraints imposed on them by social conventions, such as gender norms. The study of these films also encourages a contemplative examination of the human condition by engaging with the complexities of desire, societal expectations and shifting human relationships. Applying Lacanian Jouissance to the study of K. G. George movies focus on individual psychology with broader social commentaries, offering a nuanced perspective on the interplay between human consciousness and societal structures. As a director hailed for using psychology and psychoanalytic concepts in his films, it is essential to theoretically situate the observed influence of Lacanian Jouissance on his work.

Digital Misogyny Unveiled: An Examination of Online Hate Speech Targeting Women in Bangladesh

Abstract: Discriminatory and sexist language expresses bias towards men and projects that women are inferior around the world. It is also evident in the patriarchal society of Bangladesh. While they are often prevalent subtly in communication taking place in person, the anonymous nature of the internet has enabled people to be vile towards women in the virtual world. Online hate speech and misogynistic behavior have become pervasive issues in today’s digital landscape. Most people take Islamic verses literally or believe the words of religious clerics without verifying their authenticity. The socio-religious idea of women being subservient to men produces numerous hate speeches against women on social media platforms. The presence of multiple online religious lectures spewing offensive words against women made the situation worse in Bangladesh. They conform to the prevalent idea that men should control women’s agency, and for that purpose, even violence is acceptable. This article aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of the phenomenon, with a specific focus on the context of Bangladesh. Through case studies, it looks into how religiousleaders fuel online hatred towards women.It further explores the various forms, impacts, and underlying factors of misogynistic online speech. By delving into the complexities of this issue, it also discusses the challenges faced by women in seeking redress and proposesrecommendationsto mitigate online violence against women in Bangladesh.

Exposing and Creating Nuance in Cinema: A Study on the Representation of Marginalized Identities in Neeraj Ghaywan Films

Abstract: Being a perception-inducing and reinforcing medium, films can make remarkable efforts to humanize the lives of marginalized identities. Indian cinema has been criticised mainly for its upper-caste gaze, sexual objectification of women, gagged or stereotypical representation of minorities, and other cultural identities. Neeraj Ghaywan is necessarily one of the young contemporary filmmakers from Bollywood who, regardless of the status quo, attempts nuance in terms of representation and portrayal. Diversity in the organisational structure of our society should be reflected in mainstream cinema narratives to impact the process of democratisation. The presence of more filmmakers from diverse identities would energize this process in its due course. This study is designed to analyze the representation of marginalized identities and explore the auteurship of Neeraj Ghaywan. As choosing not to talk about is itself a political act of subversion, under-representation would impact only social exclusion, while misrepresentations might perpetuate and bring about toxic stereotypes. The films of Neeraj Ghaywan are keen on both aspects of faulty representations.

Tweeting Climate Strike: A Netnographic Study of Fridays for Future’s Narratives in the USA and Bangladesh

Abstract: Nowadays, Twitter (now X) has been a key battleground for environmental activism. This study reveals patterns in the narratives shared by the climate strike movement Fridays for the Future (FFF) on the microblogging platform. The article categorically investigates the points on which the platform publicises varying concerns and disseminates differing priorities in the USA and Bangladesh, situated in the so-called Global North and South, respectively, while fighting against the catalysts of climate change. The Twitter handles of the youth-led movements, namely Fridays for Future U.S. and Fridays for Future Bangladesh, are utilising this social media platform to convey their agendas globally and influence public opinion. This paper highlights the concerns and priorities shared by these Twitter communities in the two countries, aiming to mobilise their agendas and assemble their supporters. The study has found that the social media movement platforms share concerns primarily about the causes and consequences of climate change, power corruption, and system rigging by the ‘dirty companies’, climate, and social justice for those who mainly suffer during climatic disasters. The platforms also discuss possible resolutions to contain the increasing number of climatic incidents and, subsequently, their impact and action plans. The netnographic method, which employs an inductive approach, was used to analyse the tweeting data.
